The owners have abandoned their home. It doesn’t take long for the first opportunistic Chimpanzee to run along the branches of a tree, climb through a broken window, leap onto the balcony and get inside the house. The once smart residence will be over-run by his kin and many other living creatures of the forest will join him. Eventually, the man-made structure will return to the soil, as though it never existed. Gaia has reclaimed all that was hers. I love the fact that virtually whatever we humans do to our environment, nature will triumph over adversity. I have attempted, with this and other paintings, to portray the regenerative and indomitable power of nature to heal itself of the damage we cause. It is still very much a work in progress for me. (see: “A Call to the Wild” and “Nature Triumphal”).
