Watermarked Life Under Banana Trees

“Life Under the Banana Trees” Original Artwork

This painting is full to the brim with birds, frogs and insects going about their lives with intense industriousness under the shade of the banana leaves. For me, the riotous colour reflects the cacophonous atmosphere of the jungle.

Original artwork: 30’’ x 20” (762mm x 508mm) Acrylic on canvas board.

Watermarked Decisions…decisions

“Decisions....decisions” Original Artwork

The look on the tree frog’s face was the inspiration for the title of this painting. He appears to be struggling to choose between two tasty snacks. This is a view of life high up in the jungle canopy.

Original artwork: 16” x 12” (406mm x 305mm) Acrylic on canvas frame.

Watermarked Busy Hummingbirds

“Busy Humming Birds” Original Artwork

There is no particular story behind this picture, I created it purely for the pleasure of painting these gorgeous, industrious little birds.

Original artwork: 16” x 12” (305mm x 406mm) .

Watermarked The Basking Tree

“The Basking Tree” Original Artwork

There is a tree in this particular jungle where lizards of all types meet to bask in the hot sun. These lizards, typically, are masters of disguise; at a quick glance, the tree might just be covered in colourful fungi, and is that a blade of grass – or a lizard’s tail? I have played around with merging flora and fauna here which was fun to do and something I shall revisit one day.

Watermarked Moving In

“Moving In” Original Artwork

The owners have abandoned their home. It doesn’t take long for the first opportunistic Chimpanzee to run along the branches of a tree, climb through a broken window, leap onto the balcony and get inside the house. The once smart residence will be over-run by his kin and many other living creatures of the forest will join him. Eventually, the man-made structure will return to the soil, as though it never existed. Gaia has reclaimed all that was hers. I love the fact that virtually whatever we humans do to our environment, nature will triumph over adversity. I have attempted, with this and other paintings, to portray the regenerative and indomitable power of nature to heal itself of the damage we cause. It is still very much a work in progress for me. (see: “A Call to the Wild” and “Nature Triumphal”).
Original artwork: 12” x 10” (305mm x 254mm) Acrylic on canvas frame.

Watermarked Nature Triumphal

“Nature Triumphal” Original Artwork

Here is my third attempt to portray the metamorphic power of nature (see also A Call to the Wild & Moving In). This is a closeup view of vivid plant life bursting forth through the rusting metal on the railings. The forever busy hummingbirds are both pollen collectors and seed distributers in this take-over.
